Grammy Award Winner Arrested For Alleged Battery Charges
Rapper Killer Mike arrested after the 2024 Grammy. Apparently, there was a brief altercation and after following a citizen’s arrest reportedly occurred when security personnel attempted to intervene as the rapper made his way through the venue shortly after his triple win. On Sunday, February 2, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, the Atlanta musician (real name Michael Santiago Render), was seen in handcuffs and escorted by at least two LAPD officers at the Crypto Arena.
The alleged altercation occurred after security refused to allow Killer Mike and his entourage to pass through the Crypto.com venue area, why is unclear but the rapper has been released. The winning musician, allegedly engaged in an altercation with the security guard, who was knocked down to the ground. The guard injured her hand in the fall and requested a citizen’s arrest. Police were called to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Despite the abrupt end to his winning night! triple Grammy night, Killer Mike’s fans continue to celebrated his victories in the three categories he was nominated. The rapper activist won across the board, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Song. Yet, as the political landscape grows closer towards the presidential elections Killer Mike has shown his support for those candidates who celebrate and support the Black communities in Atlanta, GA.

Killer Mike A.K.A Michael Render, is also a champion for affordable housing in Atlanta, using his influence to address housing disparities and advocate for community-driven solutions. He fervently supports affordable housing initiatives in Atlanta. Leveraging his platform, he addresses housing disparities, as an equitable solutions that empower communities and combat homelessness a housing concern in Atlanta as the pandemic ended and eviction rose in his hometown. His commitment reflects a dedication to creating positive change and fostering inclusive, sustainable urban development in neighborhoods that have been underserved for decades. Despite, the controversy the rapper has been a supporter of politician's such as, Bernie Sanders for both his U.S presidential campaigns in 2016 and 2020. Although the rapper hasn't openly declared to be a Democrat nor a Republican he does understand the necessity of supporting those political representers that could align and become allies with the Black community. For example, Georgia's Governor Brain Kemp a long-time Republican is someone who Killer Mike believe is necessary to communicate with to effectively with regards to Georgia politics and policies.
Hyper-local politics in his belief is becoming active in your local political races, by supporting and recognizing those Representative in communities that can effect real change by becoming apart of the conversation that surrounds the issues that are most important. Hyper-politics is in a tune what most communities need. Michael Render A.K.A Killer Mike, true to his persona, has also been wildly underestimated for his passion to garner locals to actual activism in the Atlanta area. The rapper during 2016 push to get more Black people within the community to support Black-Owned banks. A call-to-action that resulted in more than a million dollars in deposits moved from white banking institutions to Black-owned banking institutions like OneUnited Bank based in Los Angeles, California to an Atlanta based bank Citizen Trust.
